About Unlock PDF
Bank statements, payslips and utility bills often arrive encrypted, and the password gets in the way every time you open the file or try to combine it with something else. If you know the password, this saves a clean copy that opens without one.

Questions
- Can this open a PDF whose password I do not know?
- No, and it does not try. The password is required to decrypt the content — without it there is nothing to read. This tool removes protection from documents you can already open; it is not a password cracker.
- Why would I remove a password I know?
- Because entering it every time is friction, and because most other tools — merging, compressing, converting — need the document decrypted first. A monthly bank statement you file away and refer back to is the usual case.
- Is the document changed in any other way?
- The pages are copied into a fresh, unencrypted document, so content and page order are preserved exactly. The security handler and any permission flags are gone, which is the whole point.
- It says my PDF is not encrypted.
- Then there is nothing to remove. Some files ask for a password only to allow editing, not to open — those are already readable and are not encrypted in the sense that matters here.
- Is my password or my PDF sent to a server?
- No. The conversion runs in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly — the file is read into this tab’s memory and written back out there. The site is served as static files from Cloudflare’s edge and has no upload endpoint, no database and no server-side processing. The page ships a Content Security Policy that forbids it from contacting any host other than its own origin, so this is enforced by your browser rather than promised by us.
