About Watermark PDF

A document that is circulating before it is final should say so on every page. Stamp DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, an internal file number or a client name across the pages, diagonally or tiled, at an opacity that stays readable without burying the text underneath.

How it works

  1. 1Pick a PDF.
  2. 2Type the text and set the placement, size, opacity and colour.
  3. 3Press Add watermark and download the stamped document.

Questions

Does a watermark stop anyone copying the document?
No. It sits on top of the page as ordinary content and can be removed with the same class of tool that added it. Use it as a label that travels with the document, not as protection. If you need protection, use Protect PDF.
What opacity should I use?
Around 15–25% for a large diagonal stamp: clearly visible, still readable through. Go higher for small header or footer text, where it needs to be legible in its own right.
Can I use an image or logo as the watermark?
Not in this tool — text only. For a logo, place the image on the page in your source document before converting it to PDF.
Will it work on pages that are rotated?
Yes. The stamp is positioned in the page’s visible orientation, so it appears upright and centred on sideways scans as well as normal pages.
Which characters can I use?
The watermark uses a built-in PDF font, which covers the Latin alphabet, digits and common punctuation. Characters outside that — Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic — are dropped rather than breaking the conversion.
